ParentSquare

Catawba County Schools will be using ParentSquare for all district, school, and teacher communication. ParentSquare consolidates all of our communications into one single tool and gives our parents the option to choose how they want to receive their communications (text, email, or app notifications) and when! Instead of having to check email, text, voice messages, Class Dojo, Remind, Google Classroom, and more, to find the information you need, you can simply login to your ParentSquare account and find everything there!

How We Communicate

A person holds a smartphone displaying the ParentSquare app, featuring a logo with colorful circles.

Our district uses ParentSquare for school communication, primarily with email, text and app notifications. ParentSquare automatically syncs with our Student Information System to generate an account for each parent, using their preferred email address and phone number. We encourage parents to access their accounts so they can download the mobile app and update their preferences on when and how they are notified.

ParentSquare is a safe, secure, and modern approach to communication and collaboration between school and home.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • On the app, enter your email or cell phone number. The email and/or cell phone number should match what is in the school's information system (PowerSchool) or database.

On the web, click ‘Sign In’, then under ‘Register’ section, put your email or phone number and click '“Go”.

If the email or phone number is not recognized by ParentSquare, parents can follow directions to request access or call the school office and ask them to update the contact information.

  • ParentSquare allows users to customize their notifications based on notification type and select their preferred delivery method for each school. The Instant setting will send all post notifications in real-time. The Digest setting sends direct messages, alerts, and time-sensitive posts instantly, but sends all non-time sensitive posts at the end of the day, reducing the number of notifications you receive daily. (We recommend the Digest setting.) Learn more about managing notifications.

  • Parents can update their language preference for their account. Once they have done this, ParentSquare will automatically translate any communication to them in their selected language. This translation will also occur when the parent sends a message to a staff member. Learn more about ParentSquare translations and how to set the language preference.

  • Yes. All parents have a ParentSquare account. ParentSquare is the primary tool for district and school communication. Individuals who do not activate their account in ParentSquare will still receive an email digest at the end of each day that communication is sent out to them. In the event of emergencies, phone calls will be sent as well.

  • Click “Unsubscribe”  link on your email from ParentSquare or reply STOP to the SMS from ParentSquare to stop notifications to your email or phone.

**** If the email or phone number is not recognized by ParentSquare, parents can call the school office attendance/registar’s clerk and ask them to update the contact information.

  • You can contact your child's teacher privately by using the direct messaging tool. On the home page, click on "Messaging" in the left sidebar. From there, you can send a direct message to your child's teacher that only you and the teacher can see. You also can send messages to other staff members at the school, such as your child's coaches and club leaders. You can send these messages in your preferred language; the messages will arrive to staff in English.

  • You can customize your notification settings by going to your homepage and clicking on your name in the top right corner and selecting "My Account" from the drop-down menu. On your account page, you find your notification settings in the top right corner and click "Change This" to customize your notifications. If you’re receiving too many notifications, try changing to "digest" setting, meaning you’ll only receive one condensed message in the evening.

  • You can customize your language settings by going to "My Account" and clicking "Change This" under language settings. From there, you can choose any language that you prefer from the drop-down menu, and you’ll start to receive content in that language.

  • Yes, we will provide more information how to do this soon.

  • If your registration link expired, you’ll need a new one. Please contact your school office or send us an email to support@parentsquare.com and ask for a new link to be sent to you.

  • Please check your spam to see if any ParentSquare messages ended up there and mark them as "Not Spam." Also add donotreply@parentsquare.com to your email contacts so your server recognizes our messages. If you still aren’t receiving emails, please contact ParentSquare at support@parentsquare.com so that they can assist you.

  • Please go to www.parentsquare.com and on the login page, click "Forgot Password." Put in your email or phone number, and you’ll be sent a link to reset your password.

  • ParentSquare allows the district, schools and teachers to send messages in a variety of ways. One method is a post that would only go to your school’s “feed” in the ParentSquare app or web portal. Your school or teacher also could choose to send that post to parents/guardians in the form of a text or email. Staff can choose to send  a private message to one or more users. For example, a school nurse might text you to ask a question about administering your student’s medication. The third method is an “urgent alert” sent at the district and school level — These messages will be sent via text, email and phone call and include inclement weather notifications and health and safety issues.

  • You can choose to receive messages via email, text, voice and/or the app. While you can opt out of any of these methods of communication, please note that the district has the discretion to override opt-outs for messages and alerts deemed urgent or important, including health and safety situations and attendance.

  • You don’t have to take any action to receive emails, texts or phone calls. Our student information system syncs contact information directly with ParentSquare. If you want to utilize the app, simply download it from the app store and follow the prompts.

  • Yes. The first time that you log into the app or web portal, all of your students should automatically be listed in the upper lefthand corner. If you don’t see them, please contact ParentSquare's support team at support@parentsquare.com.
