2025-26 Kindergarten Enrollment

Welcome to the Catawba County Schools Family!

A colorful kindergarten announcement features a happy child with a backpack.

Have a 2025-26 Kindergartener? START HERE

Your child is about to begin an amazing adventure where they will meet new friends, learn from dedicated educators, and start building the foundation for a world-class education. As you get to know our staff you will see that they are passionate about children and learning and they bring that spirit to the classroom every day.

Our youngest students' adventure begins in one of 3 learning pathways

Whether you desire a traditional in-person experience or the flexibility of a virtual option, we are proud to offer three different learning pathways for your child. Please click on the pictures below to learn more and to enroll your child!

No matter which pathway you choose, this is how you enroll your kindergartener!

IMPORTANT: Acceptance into the Spanish Immersion Program requires an application

Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

Our programs fill up FAST so apply early!

Note: Application Period Now Closed for 2025-26. You may apply for wait-list only.

Students in our Spanish Immersion Pathway learn all the NC Standards just like their traditional English counterparts... just in Spanish

Language immersion programs are an exciting option for parents who want their children to have the advantages of a rigorous academic program while also learning two languages – English and a target language. In a Spanish immersion program, Spanish is not taught as a subject; Spanish is the language in which instruction is delivered.

Offering our Spanish Immersion Pathway at 4 of our elementary schools across the district - Sherrills Ford Elementary, Startown Elementary, Lyle Creek Elementary, and St. Stephens Elementary - is just one more way we are making education better. You may apply to any of our 4 programs, regardless of which school you are assigned or which school district you are in. You just have to provide your own transportation!
