Catawba County Schools Names New Chief Financial Officer
NEWTON, September 22, 2025 – Catawba County Schools Superintendent Dr. Matt Stover announced the appointment of Seth Prevette as the district’s new Chief Financial Officer (CFO). The Board of Education confirmed the appointment at its meeting on Monday, September 22.
As CFO, Mr. Prevette will provide leadership and oversight for the district’s financial operations, ensuring transparency, accountability, and the best possible stewardship of public resources. He brings a wealth of experience from both the private sector and public education.
Mr. Prevette is a 2008 graduate of Lenoir-Rhyne University and a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). His professional background includes work in public accounting, where he specialized in auditing school systems, five years with Lowe’s Companies in Mooresville, and more than eleven years as the CFO at Wilkes County Schools.
Outside of work, Mr. Prevette enjoys a full and active family life. He and his wife, Lindsey, his high school sweetheart, have been married 17 years and have two children—Macanna, an 8th grader, and Walker, a 6th grader. The family enjoys spending time at the ball field and exploring the outdoors through sports, hunting, fishing, and hiking. A lifelong resident of his family farm, Mr. Prevette says, “I never thought I’d grow up to be an accountant. Regardless of whether it be finance or farm work, it’s the people around me that make it fun.”
Of his new position, Mr. Prevette reflects, “I would like to brag on the Lord. He gives me opportunities and I’m grateful for it. I’ve got a pretty simple outlook. I’m going to do my best to do a good job, but I also hope I can make some folks smile along the way.”
Superintendent Dr. Matt Stover shared his confidence in the appointment: “We are excited to welcome Seth to Catawba County Schools. His strong background in both private and public finance, along with his proven leadership in Wilkes County, will be a tremendous asset as we continue to ensure our district operates with excellence and fiscal responsibility.”
