  • Proctors Needed 
    We need around 40 volunteers to proctor each day during EOGs (7:50 a.m.-12:15 p.m.)! We could use your help ANY or ALL of these days (May 25, 30, 31; June 4). Students who secure a proctor will be eligible for a Skateland trip on June 7. To sign up please call Arndt, e-mail Jennifer Stodden or Holly Poovey, or just sign-up at Please pass this information on to grandparents, neighbors, college students, community members, etc.

    District Parent Nights

    Bandys High School (Gym) - Monday, April 30 at 6:30 p.m.

    Fred T. Foard High School (Gym) - Tuesday, May 1 at 6:30 p.m.

    Mrs. Rouse Ruiz lost her teenage daughter to an accidental overdose of prescription drug medication.  During the program, Ms. Rouse Ruiz shares her personal story as well as information about prescription drugs and signs of drug abuse.  She emphasizes that often children hide drugs and drug paraphernalia in their bedrooms. Mrs. Rouse Ruiz uses a traveling bedroom to teach parents where children might hide prescription drugs and how to conduct a proper safety sweep of their child's room.  

    Due to the nature of the content, the program is designed for adults only.  We ask that students not attend.

    Students Win Big at Appalachian Sumo Fest

    Congratulations Arndt Robotics team!  There were over 130 teams competing in the Appalachian State Sumobots Competition in 6 different categories.  In the 7th-8th grade category, Arndt took 1st, 2nd, and 4th places. Carson P. won 1st. Gage S. won 2nd. Nicole B., Vania S., and Nelida H. won 4th.  Thank you Ms. Brown and Mr. Muhammad for your help! Congratulations to all!

    Band Ensemble Rates Superior

    Congratulations to the HMA clarinet trio, flute quartet, and percussion ensemble for their performances at the Northwest District Instrumental Solo and Small Ensemble MPA this morning. All three groups earned a rating of "Superior!"

    Ms. McCorkle and Mr. Clark Honored by CCS

    School receptionist, Ms. Linda McCorkle, was honored by Catawba County Schools as the Classified Employee of the Month!  Ms. McCorkle is quick to provide students, teachers, and parents with assistance anytime it is needed. We love our Ms. McCorkle!  

    Mr. Wayne Clark was also recognized in February as the Catawba County Schools Certified Employee of the Month!  Mr. Clark has many roles at Arndt. He is a teacher, coach, and athletic director. Mr. Clark works tirelessly for the betterment of our school. Congratulations to both!  

    PTO Update

    The HMA PTO still has PDQ cards available.  The cards have a $10 face value but can be purchased for $6.  Stop by the HMA office between 8am and 4pm to purchase your cards!     

    We Need Your Help During Testing

    We will need approximately 40 volunteers to proctor each day. HMA could really use your assistance from 7:50 am to 12:15 pm on any or all of these dates.  If you are able to help, please fill out this form. If you are unable to volunteer but know other individuals (grandparents, neighbors, college students, community members, etc.) who would volunteer as proctors, please pass this information and link onto them.     Role of the proctor:

    1. Attend a brief training session at the school at 7:50 am on the morning of the test.
    2. Assist the test administrator in monitoring students.
    3. Report any test irregularities to the teacher, test coordinator, or principal.

    We are entering the last nine weeks of our school year.  With this being said, we understand this also becomes a busy time of year for our families.  Below are important dates for your student:

    May 11 – 8th Grade Dance – Dress code applies – please send donations for the dance to your homeroom teacher in an envelope labeled “8th grade Dance”

    May 21 – Band Concert

    June 6 – 7th and 8th grade Crawdads 4th nine weeks reward trip

    June 7 – 7th grade awards at 9:00 am
