From the Principal

  • Dear Parents and Families,

What a unique time we are in. I recognize how incredibly difficult this situation is for many families. The fabulous team at Oxford Elementary has been working hard to identify meaningful instructional activities for your child to do while he or she is at home for an extended period of time. Our goal in this work was to provide you with activities that are aligned with what your children typically do during the school day, recognizing it will not be the same as being in the classroom, but everything should be familiar. We are working to provide enough materials for each child to be engaged in academic learning for approximately 2-4 hours each day depending on grade level..

Paper/pencil and online activities will be in each daily plan, children can start with the first activity and work their way down through the list. We are working to write the directions in "kid-friendly" language so children can be relatively independent as they work through the activities.  I certainly know there is a lot going on for families right now and recognize you may not be able to complete all of the activities given in a day, all we ask is that you try your best to create a learning environment during this time of distance learning. Our intention is to keep your children actively learning and prevent regression while they are not coming to school.  Since these days are scheduled to count as “learning” days, we encourage you to please create a routine that would allow students to work on “academics” each day.

Teachers will have lessons and activities ready to be picked up at the end of this week.  Below you will find the schedule for grade level pick up. We will also be allowing students in K-5 to check out a chromebook.  These chromebooks must be checked out by parents and returned when we return to school.
