October brings the beautiful Fall colors. It also marks the time when the weather cools, normally. These hotter than usual temperatures have thrown everyone’s idea of Fall for a loop. We are all ready for some cooler weather and look forward to the beautiful leaves! In terms of academics, it also signifies the end of the 1st 9 weeks. Report cards will go home this month and teachers will be having parent conferences. Please make every effort possible to attend your scheduled parent conference. It is imperative that we have a shared vision for our students. The partnership between school and home is vital for our student’s success.
Just a reminder, our PTO fundraiser is ending this week and we really need your support. Please ask family, friends, neighbors, and coworkers to support our school. We have great incentives for students as they can earn a “Glow Party” and even a limo ride and lunch to McDonalds. There is also a change they can spend time in a money machine with $250 cash. We appreciate your support for Oxford.
We have an amazing night planned for our learning night at our PJs and Pancakes Family Reading Night! It will be Monday, October 14th from 5:00- 6:30 with eating from 5:00 to 5:30 and reading night activities to follow. Please be on the lookout for more information soon.
Our Fall Festival is going to be on November 1st. Please mark this day on your calendar as PTO is planning a great evening of fun activities, games, and entertainment.
We will be participating once again in the Bunker Hill High School homecoming activities. We will be having a contest school wide to choose a classroom to ride our school float and receive free tickets for students at Friday night’s game. We will participate in spirit days throughout the week. Please see the calendar for the “theme” dress up days.
We are still collecting cans for the food pantry. Please send in cans to your child’s teacher. The classroom with the most will win a prize. Remember this year Box Tops will be collected on the Box Top app. It is easier than ever with no cutting at all. Please download the app and scan your receipts so that Oxford will receive the points for your Box Tops.
During the month of October students will be focusing on the character trait of Digital Citizenship and Habit #2, Begin with the End in Mind. Please make sure you have conversations with your children about what they learning. Our goal is for our students to bring what they are learning home and share it with their families.
As a reminder, we have lots of items gathering in our lost and found! Please have students check for missing items.
