Hello and Welcome to 6th grade!
I am excited to be your teacher this year. We have lots to do and I can't wait to learn about you.
All About Me!
I started teaching here at Blackburn since August 2014.
My parents are from Laos. My family came to the United States after the fall of Laos to communism. I belonged to an enthic group in southeast Asia called Hmong. Many Hmong people (men and women) worked for the U.S. Government in what is known as the Secret War. After the Vietnam War ended, many Hmong families were relocated to Thailand and then to the United States, Australia, France, and Brazil. My family was very lucky to be relocated here in the United States.
When my family came to the United States, I was only 3 months old. I lived in California for 4 years and moved to Hickory, NC since 1995. I am the oldest of six children. I have 2 younger brothers and 3 younger sisters. I love to read books, especially mysteries and fantasy. Some of my favorite books/series are Harry Potter, Baby Sitter's Club, Boxcar Children, the Unfortunate Events Series, and the Great Gatsby.
In 2008, I received the Asian American Pacific Islander Scholarship Award and the North Carolina Teaching Fellows Scholarship Award. I graduated from Lenoir-Rhyne University in 2013 with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education K-6.
