B.S. Elementary Education M.A. Executive Leadership
My name is Mrs. Busch. I am a 4th grade math teacher at Claremont this year. I wanted to take a few minutes to introduce myself in case you do not know me.
I am originally from Parkersburg, WV and graduated from Ohio Valley University with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education in 2002. In 2013, I received my Master's Degree from Gardner-Webb University in School Administration. This is my 17th year of teaching, and after all this time, I still love what I do and I love working with my students! I have also taught grades 2-5 in Alexander and Wilkes County. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family and my two cats and dog, watching sports on TV, going out to eat with friends, and watching movies. In the summer, I love spending time with my nephews who I rarely see since they live in Ohio. They are my pride and joy and always bring a smile to my face.
In math class, my students can expect an animated and passionate instructor who likes to rap, dance, exercise, and sing about math. We use manipulatives for hands-on learning, participate in math groups and stations with various learning activites, and visitors will see student led discussions regarding strategies on how to solve real world mathematical problems. The learning environment is one that remains focused, challenging, positive, and fun. I reinforce respect for one another by showing that we can listen to other points of views when solving problems, but can all still be correct. A top goal is to have students learn from one another using clear and respectful communication skills, as this is a skill that will be essential for students' future success in whatever career path they choose.
Parents can expect an open dialogue with me through our school's Class Dojo app as well as through conferences, phone calls, emails, notes in planners, etc. I try to be approachable and fair about all situations and look forward to working with all parents every year to ensure the best success for each student I have in class. Through the teamwork and support of teacher, parent, and student, great things can happen!
