I serve the Lyle Creek students, staff, and community as the principal. I began my career in education in Catawba County Schools in 1995 at Sweetwater Elementary School. I explored new territory moving to St. Stephens High School in the fall of 2000 to teach ESL to students in grades 9-12. Once I began to explore leadership outside of the classroom, I returned, in 2012, to the elementary school setting, first as an instructional coach and then as an assistant principal at St. Stephens Elementary School. My love of learning and consistent focus on providing an effective student-centered learning environment for all is the foundation of my work as a principal. My philosophy is that all students can learn and each child should be in a nurturing and challenging classroom where adults believe they can achieve and provide the tools needed for success.
When away from school, I enjoy spending time with my husband Juan, my daughters Cynthia and Sarah, and my dogs Brownie and Coco. We enjoy movies, concerts, and road trips to the beach and the mountains. We also enjoy traveling to visit extended family over long weekends and holidays.
