Battle of the Books is an activity that is all about reading! Each year, the North Carolina School Librarians Association publishes a list of fantastic and diverse books that will be the focus of the Battle of the Books program for the year. Students who wish to participate are encouraged to read and study the books in preparation for county, regional, and state Battle of the Books competitions. Elementary competition teams can consist of up to 12 students who compete 6 at a time in a question-answer style contest where students can demonstrate their deep knowledge of the books. The ultimate goal of Battle of the Books is to encourage students to read more. Students who participate will become better readers, broaden their reading interests, and increase their knowledge base.
Information about joining the Battle of the Books team will be available soon! See the links on this page for more information about the program and to explore this year's book list.
