Degrees and Certifications:
Bachelor of Science in Education & Reading Master of Arts in Reading Education, General
I knew when I was in kindergarten that I would grow up to become a school teacher. I graduated from Fred T. Foard in 1987 and went on to graduate from Western Carolina University in 1991. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Education and Reading. I received my masters in Reading from Appalachian State University in 2008.
I began my teaching career in a private school: Cramerton Christian Academy teaching 4th grade for 2 years. Then I moved to Burke County Public Schools and taught at Icard Elementary teaching 3rd grade. From there I went to Alexander County Schools and taught 3rd grade at Taylorsville Elementary. Finally, I made my way to Catawba County Schools. I have been at St. Stephens Elementary for about 16 years. I started with teaching 2nd graders, moved to 5th grade and then several years as a Reading Specialist. This year I'm teaching fourth graders. I love teaching!
I have a daughter, Madison, who is a senior this year in high school. We have 4 cats and 1 dog.
