Mrs. Vicki Walker

Dear Parents, grandparents, and extended families,

I am so pleased that you chose Claremont Elementary for your child to begin their school career. Your child is embarking on a journey that will lead them on many roads of discovery and learning.  This new adventure will be a team effort. You play an important role in your child’s education. I want you to feel free to visit the classroom anytime. I want you to share your thoughts and concerns with me. When we all work together, the children will be happy and successful.

I want to give you a little information about myself. I am married and have two, great children and two grandchildren. I have an Associate degree in Early Childhood Education from CVCC and a Bachelor’s degree in Birth to Kindergarten form Appalachian State University. I have been teaching early childhood for the past 19 years. I am also the demonstration teacher for region 7 of North Carolina where teachers come to observe and discover new ways of serving their early childhood students.

 What children will need:

Small backpack

Change of clothing: shorts/pants, top, underwear, and socks/shoes (we will change clothing with the seasons). Children have accidents and this will prevent you from having to bring one of these items to school.

We will need a family photo for our classroom family tree and a baby photo of your child around age two. This is a surprise that will come with graduation.

Small baby blanket (2 feet by 3 feet) for naptime- Storage space is limited

I ask that no toys be brought into the classroom because we have plenty for each child to explore. Also, to keep our children safe, I as that no chapstick/lip balm, cough drops, hand sanitizer, or medicine of any kind be kept in your child's backpack. If your child needs any medicine while at school, we will give you a medicine slip to fill out so your child can be cared for safely.

Again, please know we are here to help make the first day of school a happy transition and we look forward to an exciting and fun year. Welcome!

Sincerely, Vicki Walker
