Certified ASE Maintenance and Light Repair, and Master Technician
I have been a staff member for six years at MHS, teaching Intro to Automotive, Auto I, Auto II, and Auto III. Teaching Career Management and taught for five years at Catawba County Community College.
I currently am Automotive Service Excellence, (ASE) certified in Maintenance and Light Repair (MLR) and all eight automotive areas as a Master Technician.
My work experiance includes 30 years in Industry as, Line Technician, Team Leader, Shop Foreman, Parts and Service Manager, and Shop Owner. I have experiance in paint and body work, custom paint, air brush, and grafix, I introduce students to welding and automotive fabrication through club projects such as a fully customized RAT Rod dump truck, completly constructed by students.
I sponsor an Automotive Club, that meets every Tuesday and Thursday after school, for students to gather and spend time together working on Parent's, Facuty and Staff's, and their own vehicles. We go on two to three field trips each year, supporting STEM, Science, Technology, Enginering, and Math, education and exposure. We have constructed a 1958/98 Chevrolet dump truck that we take to all home football games, Downtown Maiden Christmas, parades and shows. Our cirriculum includes education in the use of many tools and equipment used in industry including, On Car Brake Lathe, Tire Changer, Tire Balancer, Scan Tools, and our new, state of the art, Alignment Machine. We have been selected twice by Ingersall Rand for their Real Tools for Schools grants, One for $10k and the second for $20k. We were selected as one of only six schools in the nation for the second grant and use both monies to purchase many tools and equipment to further our students experiance in our curiculum.
