This is my 21st year teaching 8th grade science at Arndt.  Before coming here, I taught Biology at Tuscola High School in Waynesville, NC and Biology 101 as a graduate assistant at Western Carolina University.  I am National Board certified and a NC Environmental Educator.  In addition to teaching at Arndt, I am also the coach of our Science Olympiad team and the advisor to the GEMS (Girls Excelling in Math and Science) club.

I have both  bachelor's and master's degrees in biology from Western Carolina University.  I was a member of the drumline of the WCU "Pride of the Mountains" marching band.  I also did research on salamanders and spiders.

My husband Rich is a PE teacher at South Newton Elementary and a coach of the Newton-Conover High School men's soccer team(2 time state champs!).  We have two daughters Emily, a freshman at Discovery High School, and Rebecca, a 5th grader at Mountain View Elementary.  When I am not driving them to dance and acting classes, I enjoy reading, cross stitch, and gardening.  I love spending time on the NC Outer Banks and cheer for the Atlanta Braves.
