Greetings AMS Parents,

It is my pleasure to introduce myself as your child’s EC teacher. I teach reading, writing, math, and functional skills at Arndt Middle School, as well as provide EC services in the general classroom as students’ Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) warrant. I also casemanage half of the EC services of students at our school.

A brief background of my educational and personal history: I am a graduate of ASU, this will be my twenty-first year of teaching and eleventh year teaching at AMS. I am a National Board Certified Teacher of Special Education (20 percent of NBCT candidates attain certification their first try, so I am proud to be certified. :). I currently serve on our AMS Building Leadership Committee.

I have taught in six counties in North Carolina, from the mountains to the coast. ‘The Arndt Family’ is by far my school 'home' of choice. I am native to NC and fortunate to have a wonderful family. My daughter, an amazing one year old grandson, two step-daughters and a very supportive husband make-up our unit. I live in Alexander County.

Finally, I encourage you to sign up for the CCS parent portal when you visit our school, so that you receive daily emails on grades and assignments from each of your child’s classes. In the meantime, students have access to their grades via the student portal and know or will be taught how to access it and share with you at home. Also, please check your child’s academic team web page, as each team posts their homework assignments daily. Please use this as a cross-reference tool to confirm the accuracy of your child’s agenda use.

Please feel free to contact me with any need or concern. I look forward to meeting with you and working together throughout the year to support the success of your child. Wonderful progress occurs at AMS!
