NEWTON, August 18, 2023 --The Catawba County Board of Education is pleased to announce a public directive for its upcoming special-called meeting on the matter of challenged books scheduled for Monday, August 21, 2023. The meeting will be held at 6:00 PM in the boardroom at 2285 North Anderson Avenue, Newton, North Carolina. Doors will open promptly at 5:30 PM to welcome attendees.
To facilitate a smooth and organized gathering, attendees are kindly requested not to arrive before 5:00 PM. This will allow employees to conclude their workday and leave campus in order to provide adequate parking for the meeting. Attendees are encouraged to form a line at the designated door area, extending down the ramp, as the event is subject to an occupancy cap of 60 public seats in the boardroom to ensure everyone’s safety.
Recognizing the potential for high attendance, we will provide an overflow room with 75 public seats where attendees can listen to the meeting via audio. This setup will accommodate those unable to secure seating in the boardroom. To ensure proper egress and ingress, no standing will be allowed during the meeting in either the boardroom or the overflow room.
For the convenience of media personnel, a designated media area will be positioned inside the boardroom in the left rear of the room, ensuring easy access and coverage of the proceedings.
