Special Called Meeting (Regarding Challenged Book)

NEWTON, March 11, 2024 --The Catawba County Board of Education will hold a special-called meeting on Monday, March 18, 2024, for the purpose of a hearing on a challenged book (Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult). The meeting will begin at 6:00 p.m. in the boardroom at 2285 North Anderson Avenue, Newton, North Carolina. Doors will open promptly at 5:30 p.m. to welcome all attendees.

To facilitate a smooth and organized gathering, attendees are kindly requested not to arrive before 5:00
p.m. This will allow employees to conclude their workday and leave campus in order to provide adequate parking for the meeting. Attendees are encouraged to form a line at the designated door area extending down the ramp.
The meeting is subject to an occupancy cap of 60 public seats in the boardroom to ensure everyone’s
safety. No standing will be allowed in the boardroom during the meeting.
