New Principal Named for Banoak Elementary

NEWTON, June 27, 2022 -- Catawba County Schools Superintendent Dr. Matt Stover has announced a new principal appointment for the upcoming school year. Jordan Goodson was named Principal of Banoak Elementary School, effective July 1, 2022. The school board confirmed the position on Monday night. 

“Mr. Goodson has been a strong Assistant Principal and teacher in CCS, notes Superintendent Matt Stover. “We look forward to his leadership as a principal now at Banoak Elementary.  He is a dedicated educator who is passionate about serving students, staff, and the community.”

Jordan GoodsonGoodson, a Catawba County Schools graduate (Maiden 2006) and recipient of an NC Teaching Fellows Scholarship, received his undergraduate degree from UNC Charlotte and his Master's degree in Executive Leadership from Gardner-Webb University. Goodson began his teaching career at Pitts School Road Elementary in Concord, NC, before returning to Catawba County in 2013. He taught 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades at Maiden Elementary School from 2013 until 2018 and was named Assistant Principal at C.H. Tuttle Elementary School in 2018, where he has remained until this appointment. 

“I am extremely grateful and humbled to now be a part of Banoak Elementary School, states Goodson. “I am excited to get to know the students and their families, as well as the staff and the community. My belief is that elementary school plays a pivotal role in education as it is the first step in the framework to ongoing academic success. We will work together to make this upcoming school year the best yet!”

Mr. Goodson resides in Maiden with his wife and daughter.
