Face Coverings Will Be Optional for all Staff, Students, & Visitors Beginning January 25, 2022

During this evening's Catawba County Board of Education (BOE) meeting, the board approved a motion to make masks optional for all students, staff, and visitors in all Catawba County Schools facilities until it is reviewed again at the next BOE meeting on February 28th. Masks will still be required on all CCS buses, per CDC guidelines. 

The motion to mandate face coverings that was approved during the BOE emergency session on January 14 was set to expire this evening. 

 

BOE Approves 2022-23 School Calendar

The BOE also approved the 2022-23 School Calendar draft. The first student day will be on Monday, August 29, 2022, with high school exams prior to winter break. The last student day will be on Friday, May 26, 2023. 

The BOE also approved the revision of the 2021-22 calendar by adding a June 6 Optional Teacher Workday, due to the recent inclement weather. There are no changes to student days.
