BOE Does Not Change Face Covering Policy - Masks Remain Optional

Dear Catawba County Schools families,

During tonight’s Board of Education (BOE) meeting, all motions requiring face coverings failed. Therefore, there will be no changes to our current operating procedures. Face coverings will remain optional for all staff, students, and visitors.

At this time, Online Catawba K-12 Virtual Academy is at capacity; therefore, we are not able to accommodate any changes to in-person learning.

Thank you to the almost 70 community members and students who spoke during the public hearing section, as well as Jennifer McCracken, Director of Catawba County Public Health who gave the BOE an update on the COVID-19 metrics in our county.
