  • The Banoak Buzz: May 20-24

Thank you to everyone who participated in the PTO Fun Run on Sunday.  We had a great turnout, and we hope our families enjoyed a day of fun in the sun!

On Tuesday, we will welcome the Fred T. Foard Class of 2019 Banoak Alumni for their Senior Walk. We are excited to celebrate our past students as they graduate high school.

On Thursday, May 23, second graders will travel on a field trip.

Friday, May 24 will be the last day to check out library books. All library books are due back the following week by Friday, May 31.

Sixth grade, as part of their Chargers for Change project, will host a coin war this week. Any money collected will be donated to St. Jude’s Children Hospital. Students can bring pennies for points, or they can bring nickels, dimes, and quarters to take points away from other classrooms. Students can place coins in any classroom bin. The winning K-2 and 3-6 classrooms will receive a popsicle party. Bring in those coins!

    Charge Forward, Charge Together!

An important message from Catawba County Schools....

    Catawba County School parents,

As a reminder, Please keep your child at home and consult their doctor if they have:

    • temperature of 100 degrees or higher
    • headache
    • muscle and body aches
    • tiredness
    • cough
    • vomiting and diarrhea

To keep the spread of illnesses to a minimum, DO NOT send children back to school until:

    • They have been without a fever for 24 hours (without fever reducing medicine, like
      Tylenol or Motrin)
    • It has been 24 hours since their last episode of vomiting or diarrhea
    • It has been 24 hours since their first dose of antibiotics for anything like strep throat, pink eye, etc.

School News

  • Mental Health Services

Catawba County Schools is excited to announce that we are expanding the mental health services that are available for our students. Beginning in the 2017 – 2018 school year, we will contract with Support, Inc. to provide School Based Therapy in all of our schools. Without ever having to leave the school campus, your child can work confidentially with an individual therapist on issues impacting their lives. Support, Inc. can begin the referral process for your child this summer and provide services without delay when school starts back. If your child has previously received school-based therapy services from another provider, you can transfer your services to Support, Inc. this summer as well. Please contact Maria Ballard, Director of Student Services, if you would like additional information or if you have any questions.
