Mrs. Brenda McCoy

Hello! Welcome to Mrs. McCoy's 7th Grade Science Class!

I have the privilege again this year of being the Cheetah's Science Teacher here at Maiden Middle and am very excited about the wonderful things we are going to explore together during the 2019-2020 school year!

This will be my 18th year teaching students, although in different places. I have greatly enjoyed teaching here at MMS and am starting my 6th year. Prior to that, I taught in a different county. Before joining the public schools, I have had many years of teaching experience in the private sector and many volunteer teaching positions in my church and various community groups. My desire is to share my passion for science with you and ignite a spark that makes you want to learn more. Science is EVERYWHERE, just waiting to be discovered.

My wonderful husband and I have been married for almost 25 years and have lived in North Carolina for almost 21 of them. We are blessed to have four terrific children and one son-in-law who keep us very busy with various sports and concerts. My oldest just graduated college and is a newlywed, my two middle children are in college, while my youngest is here at MMS as an eighth  grader. We live in Catawba County and have a small "hobby farm" where we have learned how to care for cows, dairy goats, chickens, and bunnies. Currently we only have two adorable dogs and three outdoor cats. In my spare time I enjoy jogging with my dogs, working out, machine sewing/quilting, reading, writing, and most any type of craft.

Thanks for reading. It is going to be a great year! Go Cheetahs! Go Wildcats!
