Having grown up in Catawba County Schools, I am a graduate of St. Stephens HS and received my undergraduate degree from Lenoir-Rhyne College. I decided to further my education after working a year at Sweetwater Elementary and being encouraged by the school counselor there to follow my dreams. I graduated from University of NC - Charlotte with a Master's in School Counseling and began my first year as a counselor in Caldwell Co. Schools. After working for a few years, I decided to complete my Post-Master's/Specialist certification in 2004 at the University of NC - Greensboro in School Counseling. At the same time, I decided to complete my LPC licensure in counseling to utilize as I work with students and their families in crisis and need. I have worked in education for 19 years and have been in Catawba County Schools for 18 of those years. I have a wonderful husband, Jim, and we have been blessed with two beautiful daughters, Eden & Eliza. We also have a mini doxie, Sullivan. I love my family and know how very much I've been blessed. I love to read, spend time with my girls, shop and exercise, when time permits. As my girls are growing, we also love to travel and experience new places together. I have found it to be a learning experience for all of us. A quote that I try to live by . . . "Our lives are changed by what we do, not by what others do to us." I feel this to be a motto that can make a difference for anyone at anytime no matter what our circumstances may be. It gives me hope and direction even in tough times. I love working at Claremont and welcoming back our returning students while getting to know our new students and families. The Claremont community is a terrific place to work. As we prepare for the first official day with students, I wish everyone a wonderful start to another school year!
