   Welcome to Mrs. LaRochelle's Classroom

 

This year we will alternate between Science and Social Studies. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

In Science this week:

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday: We will observe and record data for our plants and also observe Mrs. LaRochelle's control groups. We will learn the 3 main parts of a plant and the functions of each.

  • root - grows under the ground and absorbs water and nutrients from the soil and anchors the plant in place (it also holds the soil and stores food)
  • stem - grows away from the roots and supports leaves and flowers and transports water, nutrients, and food
  • leaves - grows out from the stem and uses sunlight to make food through the process of photosynthesis

Wednesday: We will take a reading and math ClassScapes (in preparation for the EOG)

Science Notebooks will not go home; however, you are welcome to see their notebooks at anytime.

Our regular schedule will be changed (including lunch).
6/4/2012 12:00 AM   Crawdads Game Day 
Permission slips and money will need to be returned.
Hats and gloves may be brought. Please put sunscreen on your child that morning.
6/5/2012 9:00 AM   Bike Day 
Skateboards, roller blades, roller skates, scooters, bikes, etc. without motors can be brought to the teacher's room on Monday afternoon or Tuesday morning. Tennis shoes and helmets must be worn to participate in bike day.
6/6/2012 12:00 AM   Field Day (K-5) 
Please make sure your child wears tennis shoes and sunscreen on that day.
6/7/2012 12:00 AM   Talent Show/Rain date for Field Day 
All music for the talent show must be approved by the teacher before performing. Sign-up sheets will be provided after EOG Tests. If rain prohibits Field Day on Wednesday, we will have the Talent Show on Wednesday.
6/8/2012 12:00 AM   Awards and Early Release 
Awards will be given in homerooms.
