The practice of providing high quality instruction matched to student need, monitoring progress frequently to make decisions about changes in instruction or goals and applying child response data to important educational decisions.

AIMSweb: An internet-based system to gather data and create graphs to show growth or weaknesses in student achievementRtI: Responsiveness to Instruction

Intensive Interventions: Academic or behavioral strategies, methodologies and practices designed for students significantly lagging behind established grade-level benchmarks in the general education curriculum or who demonstrate significant difficulties with behavioral and social competence.

Probe: A one-minute test in area of weakness performed by either the teacher, TA, or RtI Coach

Problem-Solving Model: An approach to developing interventions and ensuring positive student outcomes, rather than determining failure or deviance; a seven step cyclical process.

Progress Monitoring: Weekly one minute probe in area of weakness

Strategic Interventions: Academic or behavioral strategies, methodologies and practices designed for students not making expected progress in the general education curriculum and/or have mild to moderate difficulties demonstrating social competence.  These students are at risk for academic future.

Tiers: The consideration of the level of difficulty a student is experiencing and then necessary resources are referred to as tiers in the problem-solving approach

Universal Screening: Fall, Winter, and Spring benchmarking of all students to discover areas of growth and weakness
