Summer SchoolNew  5/21/2013 10:46 AM
Summer school will be held at SSHS in Lab 101 from 8:30-11:30 on the following days: May 28, 29, 30, 31 June 3, 4, 5, 6 June 10, 11, 12, 13 Students must attend every day until the course is completed. Currently we have 36 spots available and 45 students signed up. We will place students by grade level first (12-9), and then by the order they signed up. It is suggested that all students who signed up should be at SSHS by 8:15 on May 28th. Any student who does not show up will lose their spot to a student on the waiting list. Please remember, this is an online credit recovery course on Aventa which tends to be more difficult than our previous recovery software, Plato. If you fail this course, it will be reflected as an additional “F” for the course so we encourage you to take this opportunity to recover a credit very seriously.

Student Leadership Institute  5/14/2013 2:07 PM

The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) is pleased to announce its second Student Leadership Institute (SLI) hosted by the K-12 Social Studies Section in collaboration with the Healthy Schools Section.  This three-day Institute, for rising fourth through twelfth graders, is designed to prepare students to take active roles in their schools and communities through character and leadership development and service-learning.

NCDPI’s Student Leadership Institute will take place on the beautiful campus of William Peace University from June 23-26, 2013.  Staffed by highly qualified professionals, both students and their adult advisers will receive high quality training that will assist them with developing the skills they need to implement a service project when they return to their schools and communities.  Access the following link for more information and application:  http://ssnces.ncdpi.wikispaces.net/Character+Education .

NJROTC wins Navy Distinguished Unit  5/13/2013 11:24 AM
Today in a full gym we celebrated our victories, had a great potluck lunch and pummeled Commander Nash with dodge balls.

We also presented the Cadet Corps with the "Navy Distinguished Unit" Streamer, the highest Navy Award possible for NJROTC.  We are in the top 30% in the Nation.

It's an incredible accomplishment and the first time St has earned such an award in the 13 years as a Unit.  We also placed the Admirals Cup Trophy in the case at the front of the school for all to see.  It was a great day.

Be sure to congratulate your Cadets when you see them for a "Job Well Done!"

In the Navy, we say "BRAVO, ZULU!"
