There will be a meeting for any student interested in joining FBLA on Thursday, September 9th from 3:20 to 4:00 in Room 108 [Diane Gantt's]. You must be currently enrolled in or scheduled next semester in a business class to participate. Refreshments will be served. We will discuss club activities, competitions, and workshops that members are able to participate in. Dues and officer nominations will also be discussed in the meeting. Come see what FBLA is all about and unleash the leader inside you! |

Applications are available online for Summer Ventures in Science and Mathematics in Durham. Selected students participate in a rigorous 4-week academic program who have already demonstrated academic grown in science and math. The average participant unweighted GPA for 2009 was 3.86. Detailed information and applications are available online at http://www.summerventures.org. Deadline is January 31, 2010 Juniors interested in the Lenoir-Rhyne University High School Scholars Academy, applications are now available. This is a one-year program designed for students who seek an alternative opportunity for a full-time campus experience. Applications are accepted through February 16, 2010. See Ms. Kummer for more information. BrainWorks Learning Center is offering a course on SAT Exam Prep on Feb. 20 (9 a.m.-4 p.m.); Feb. 21 (1 p.m.-6 p.m.); Feb. 27 (9 a.m.-4 p.m.); Feb. 28 (1 p.m.-6 p.m.), and March 6 (10 a.m.-4 p.m.). Applications for the Martha Guy Summer Institute at Appalachian State University for future business leaders are now available for high school juniors. The 2010 Institute is scheduled for July 11-31.
