In the U.S. News Best High Schools 2012 rankings, there are 18 North Carolina schools with silver medals and 55 with bronze medals. To be eligible for a state ranking, a school must be awarded a national gold or silver medal.

School Calendar News:  The State Board of Education approved the weather related calendar waivers submitted by Catawba County Schools, Newton Conover City Schools and Hickory Public Schools during its meeting today.  The first day of school for students for the 2012-2013 school year for all 3 systems is August 7th.

I just wanted to say "Thank You" for those of you who have wished us well over the season - especially now, came out to support us, or just dropped an email to say "good luck" or "congratulations".

Just to let you know we finished our regular season in 3rd place behind Alexander Central and Foard.  In the conference tournament we beat Foard and lost to Alexander Central in a 9 inning game 0-1.  We have won the first 2 rounds of the state playoffs against South Point (7-1) and last night against Enka (3-2).  We will play AT Franklin on Friday 5/18/12 at 6pm.  We will be taking a charter bus and leaving at 12:30 on Friday.

SENIORS: We still need your pictures! Graduation is almost here, and Student Council is working on your graduation video. We would like at least two pictures of every graduating senior. (No more than four per senior.) Picture MUST be from Freshman to Senior years and anyone in the picture must be a graduating senior.  Please bring your labeled pictures to Mrs. Weber (215) or Mrs. Fogle (213) as soon as possible.  For those of you who have sent in pictures that shows your student prior to high school, please send in a high school picture to replace these.  The other pictures will be returned to you. DUE DATE IS MAY 31!!

Congrats to Madi W. and Hunter B. for qualifying for this week's 3A State Championship Track Meet.  This past Saturday, Madi finished 3rd in the Shot Put and 4th in the Discus to advance her to the state meet in both events.  Hunter was the regional runner-up in Pole Vault, vaulting a personal best 12' 6" to send him to the state meet.  Other athletes placing and earning points were Olivia H., Kyle F., and Cameron C.
