Second Grade Special Deliveries!

What if I need to pick up my child early?
You will need to sign your child out in the office and they will call our classroom. I will promptly send them on their way. No one will be allowed to pick up a child from the classroom/lunchroom. When scheduling appointments, keep in mind we have math in the afternoons! And no checkouts will be permitted after 2:15.

Does my child have homework tonight?
Unless informed otherwise, your child will have nightly homework Monday-Friday. They have a math worksheet and reading every night. These are predictable, quick ways to practice what we do in class.

How is my child graded?

Second graders are assessed formally each 9 weeks in reading using the k-2 Literacy Assessment. Math is assessed after each unit. Of course, I informally assess every day! Through conferences, child watching, and classwork I learn plenty about my students. More info will be shared with parents at Open House and conferences.
