What is it?
The Daily Five is a way to manage reading instruction in order to provide time for practice, small group instruction and one-on-one conferencing. |
The
Daily Five
· Read to Self
· Read to someone
· Word work
· Work on writing
· Listen to reading |
Why?
To be a better reader, students need lots of lots of practice. In the past few years, I felt that was what was missing from my classroom! Sure we did lots of skills and strategies, but we did not practice enough! Then I found “The Sisters”! The Daily Five has helped me manage reading instruction, created an environment in which second graders read for 40 minutes at a time INDEPENDENTLY, and changed my life! | |
