 Welcome to our

Website!

Thanks so much to both Webb A. Murray Elementary and Blackburn Elementary for all their wonderful support and kindness! This past summer, as always, I attended the fabulous, wonderful Catawba County Schools Technology Conference. It is so sincerely awesome, I would buy an airplane ticket anywhere to attend it. I attended nine classes from our Catawba County educators and every class was so A plus in instruction. A special thanks to Mia Johnson, Alycen Wilson, Lora Drum, and the Entire Technology Department, and Rae Leonard Thompson, for all the wonderful classes!

We are currently studying art and Spanish with wonderful autumn objects, including gourds, pumpkins, and Native American corn. It is an E.S.L./S.I.O.P strategy to look at things in real life to learn vocabulary, called realia. We are doing this to acquire both English, Spanish, and art knowledge. We have had a wonderful Constitution unit. We have designed flags, drew what it would be like when we are President, and we have had some lovely Constitution day parades. We have also completed a lovely art and literacy unit about the ocean. We are preparing artwork for exhibits in the mall in May, the art museum in March, tentatively, and in our Central Office and in our Board Room. Have a beautiful autumn! A most sincere thanks to everyone for their support and kindness!

This is my thirtieth year of teaching. I am also a licensed teacher for the Academically and Intellecutually Gifted. My bachelor's degree is from Ohio University. My master's degree, plus 17 hours towards a Ph.D.,  is from West Virginia University. My hobbies are reading, attending a club with family and friends for people who speak different languages, and weight lifting. I am the author and illustrator of the book, A Teacher's Secret Weapon-A Teacher's Magic Wand, published in New York City. It is a book to comfort the new teacher, and encourage the veteran teacher. I have written half of a second book on parenting, and  I have attended a publishing seminar and I am still working on this book.
