8th Grade Art Classes:
Our eighth grade classes are presently studying a unit on light and color. They are learning the science of color and how light effects various colors and paints. They have been concentrating on learning the difference between "transparent" colors and "opaque" colors. They are applying this concept in the painting composition of a silhouette which includes using watercolor and tempera paints. Students are researching various subject matters in choosing their silhouette compositions. They have viewed demonstrations of various watercolor techniques and have also been learning about various watercolor and tempera paint materials. I think you will be thrilled to see the great ideas and talents that our eighth graders are exhibiting with this project! Some of the paintings will be displayed in the halls of MCMS and others will later be on display at the Valley Hills Student Art Show in May. All art work will be returned to the students at the end of the year.
