JFMS Science Olympiad Team competed last Saturday in the regional competition at CVCC. Our team competed against 22 other teams in 22 events. JFMS students were impressive and brought home medals in 10 events. The team earned a beautiful trophy for coming in 6th place over all. Congratulations JFMS Science Olympiads.

 Paper Cranes

photo paper_cranes_2_zpskvnfb5zr.jpgEllen Fountain's seventh grader ELA/Social Studies students read the novel Sadako and a Thousand Paper Cranes and completed a project of folding 1,000 paper cranes for a staff member at Jacobs Fork Middle School who is facing serious medical issues. An old Japanese legend said that anyone who folds a thousand paper cranes would be granted a wish. The origami crane has become an international symbol of peace. The students completed the reading of the book AND the 1,000 cranes over a three (3) day time period.
