Day/Date Learning Objective Essential Questions What did we do in class? Homework Downloads/Links
Monday, May 21

Monday is all about making work easier.  We're learning about simple machines today by making a foldable.  You've been using simple machines all your life and might not have known it.  One type is holding your seat together right now!

Day/Date Learning Objective Essential Questions What did we do in class? Homework Downloads/Links
Monday, May 14

7.P.1.1 Explain how the motion of an object can be described by its position, direction of motion, and speed with respect to some other object.

Several of us need to finish our Gizmos from Friday.  We'll be using the lab across the hall to do that.

  Fan Cart Gizmo

Fan Cart Physics

Tuesday, May 15

We reviewed Sir Isaac's threes laws today and looked at a force that affects them all:  friction.

Wednesday, May 16

7.P.1.1 Explain how the motion of an object can be described by its position, direction of motion, and speed with respect to some other object.

How can we represent the motion of an object using a graph?

Today, we'll be analyzing motion using graphs.  How does your motion change on the way to school.  We'll figure it out looking at Teasha's and Josh's commute.

Motion Graphs

Thursday, May 17

How can we represent the motion of an object using a graph?

We'll be finishing up our look at motion graphs today.

Friday, May 18

How can we represent the motion of an object using a graph?

We review motion graphs today with some examples on the screen before completing a quiz during a bug race.

7.P.1.1 Explain how the motion of an object can be described by its position, direction of motion, and speed with respect to some other object.

How can we measure the speed of an object?

We're moving into the realm of physics today.  We will be learning how to measure speed without a speedometer.  Lots of fun today!

Measuring Speed

How does force affect an object?

We make sure that our investigation is complete from yesterday.  We'll also be reading about Sir Isaac Newton's three laws of motion.  Are you an object that tends to stay at rest?

Newton's Laws

Wednesday, May 9

7.P.1.2 Explain the effects of ballanced and unbalanced forces acting on an object (including friction, gravity and magnets).

How does force affect an object?

We start class by going over our results from Investigations E2 and E8.  We finish class reviewing Sir Isaac's work by watching a video on pushing and pulling forces.

Thursday, May 10

7.P.1.2 Explain the effects of ballanced and unbalanced forces acting on an object (including friction, gravity and magnets).

How does force affect an object?

We will be watching several short videos exploring Newton's three Laws of Motion and completing a worksheet to help us make a connection.

Newton's Laws-rework

Friday, May 11

7.P.1.2 Explain the effects of ballanced and unbalanced forces acting on an object (including friction, gravity and magnets).

How does force affect an object?

We head to the computer lab today to investigate Newton's Laws using a Gizmo.  Everyone has a new login, so you can trash your old one.

Clarifying Objective 7.L.2.3
Explain the impact of the environment and lifestyle choices on biological inheritance (to include
common genetic diseases) and survival.

Today and tomorrow, we will be working on newsletters to share information on genetics disorders:  what are they, what causes them, and what can we do.

Genetic Disorder Newsletter

Tuesday, May 1

We're finishing up our newsletters today.  Use your time wisely!

Wednesday, May 2

We're headed to the computer lab to print our newsletters.  Then, we'll be sharing what we've learned with our classmates.

What we've learned

Thursday, May 3

We share the last of our genetic disorder newsletters.  We watched a video from Discovery Education to review genes and genetics and took a practice quiz for review.

Friday, May 4

We are taking our heredy quiz today.  Study hard!
