2 HOUR
POWER CHALLENGE
What is the 2 hour power challenge?
The two hour power is a program to encourage volunteers to help keep the PTO vision in progress at FTFHS. We strongly encourage everyone to simple pledge 2 hours of your time over the course of this 2010-11 school year. When you make this commitment, it can be very rewarding indeed. We have a few people who are very dedicated to the PTO mission and are working very hard to accomplish the goals each year. Take the two hour power challenge, we need you!
Let’s be up front about this, you may not be the PTO type. You may hate going to meetings, being on committees or don’t see yourselves in this group. Many of you have challenging work schedules. Whatever the case, our children benefit from PTO, so why not take the challenge. You may even have a little fun and make new friends along the way.
If you are ready to commit to the 2 hour challenge email or call us soon as possible. We look forward to hearing from you.

anytime during the year (click on sign up link). You are needed! Being active at the high school level is fun and don't let your teenager tell you they don't want you involved at the school.... they do want you involved and what better time in their lives to serve and get active than in these crucial formative teenage years.

Committees you can join:
Staff Appreciation Committee - recognizes the entire staff of Foard on a monthly basis for all of their hard work and dedication. Gestures such as homemade cookies at Christmas and eggs filled with candy for Easter are always anticipated and appreciated by the staff.
Donations Committee - contacts friends, family and businesses in the community for donations such as restaurant coupons or small gifts.
Student Recognition Committee - Students are recognized for both academics and character, insuring opportunity for all students. They may receive a certificate, mention in the school or local paper, or a small gift collected by the Donations committee.
Fund Raising Committee - brainstorms and submits ideas to the Ex. Board for ways to raise money to support the "Foard Focus" group. Once approved, these brilliant ideas will be put into action and funds raised will go toward identified activities.
Guidance/Scholarship Receptions - Committee will assist with small evening receptions for parents, students, and guidance staff. |

FoardFOCUS is an Academic Booster/PTO organized for the purpose of Student Recognition and Staff Appreciation activities. We raise funds for:
- Students with 9 week PAWS awards
- Student of the Month Awards
- Perfect Attendance
- Student scholarship awards at the end of the school year for $200 to $1,000 each
- Staff scholarship awards at the end of the school year for $250 each
- Academic banquet for students at end of year ($2,500)
We also purchase items for monthly Staff Appreciation events. These are usually small tokens of seasonal gifts for the 100 +/- people that make up the Fred T. Foard H.S. staff. (i.e. Christmas cookies, apples in the fall, soup mixes in the winter, etc.)
Our fundraisers include a Yard/Craft sale, Bowling Tournament, and Silent Auction/BBQ. The Executive Board meets monthly (usually) on the 3rd Monday of the month.
Why is it important to have a PTO at a high school level? It's important to have a PTO because students need to know we're behind them and what they do, and the teachers need to know that they have our support.
The time you spend in the life of your child is priceless! Why not volunteer today?
