Jason Phelps teaches Weightlifting, Advanced PE and is the Head Football coach. He graduated from Appalachian State University in 1996 with a major in Physical Education. Before coming to Foard Mr. Phelps was the head football coach at Bartlett Yancey High School and PE teacher at Rockingham County High School, Northern Middle School, and Jonesville Elementary School.
In his free time Coach Phelps loves to spend time with his wife Jennifer, 6 yr. old son Colin, and 2 yr. old daughter Gracyn. He also likes to golf and fish. His favorite atribute of Foard is the welcoming atmosphere.

Since 2008, Coach Carey has been the wrestling coach as well as one of the weight training/P.E. teachers at Foard H.S.. Previously he taught and coached football and wrestling at Newton-Conover MS. Coach Carey graduated from Appalachian State in 1997, and got his masters degree in 2009 from Emporia State. Coach Carey is happily married and has kids.

Stan Elliott teaches Health, Physical Education and Weight Training. He was born and raised in New Haven, Connecticut then enlisted for 3 years with the Army’s 82d Airborne Division in Fort Bragg, N.C. After the Army, Coach Elliott attended Appalachian State University (2000) and West Virginia University (2005). He has been teaching at Foard since 2000 and really enjoys the quality of the students and faculty. Coach Elliott started the women’s soccer team in 2003 and has been the head coach ever since.
In his free time, Coach Elliott likes to spend quality time with his family, backpack, mountain bike, and play on an adult ice hockey team in Charlotte. Coach Elliott’s favorite teams are the Detroit Red Wings, Detroit Lions and the North Carolina Tar Heels.

Marcus Greer was born in Hickory and is a graduate of Lenoir-Rhyne College. He teaches P.E., Health, and Weight Training here at Foard.
Coach Greer is our assistant Varsity Basketball coach and assitant Varsity Football coach. His favorite college and pro teams include the Nebraska Cornhuskers, and the Minnesota Vikings. Coach Greer's two biggest role models include Coach Bo Pelini of the Nebraska Cornhuskers and Brett Favre of the Minnesota Vikings.
In his spare time he enjoys working out, playing sports and watching the Nebraska Cornhuskers and the Minnesota Vikings on Saturdays and Sundays.

Brad Mangum is the head Girls Varsity Basketball coach and an assistant to the Athletic Department. He graduated from Appalachian State University in 2010 with a major in Physical Education. Before coming to Foard he was an EC Teacher Assistant, Girls Varsity Basketball assistant for 6 seasons, and JV Boys head coach for 2 seasons at South Caldwell High School.
During his spare time Mr. Mangum loves to cook, attend sporting events, and spend time with his friends and wife of one year, Brooke. His favorite thing about Foard is the family-like atmosphere.
