Mission Statement
The mission of the Fred T. Foard High School Staff is to prepare a culturally aware person who is a responsible citizen and life-long learner. We will accomplish this by providing a relevant, comprehensive course of study directed by a competent and dedicated staff who work with students in a safe, healthy, and challenging environment conducive to learning!
Goals-Philosophy and Objectives
Our basic belief and responsibility concerning the role of Fred T. Foard High School is to conform to the principles of a democratic organization by linking school and community through personal interest and involvement. The school shall help to guide, to direct, and to develop a level of learning compatible with the student's abilities and ambitions so that the student can meet life situations effectively. The school shall evaluate the student's performances in terms of ability, efforts to fulfill the requirements in quantity and quality, and the requirements of the course of study. The school shall encourage the student's efforts with a genuine interest in the outcomes, support the students with appreciation for worthy accomplishments, and assist the student in attaining his or her goals by constructive suggestions.
The school must encourage the total development of each student by providing an educational program based on needs, interests, capabilities, and efforts, and by insuring the development of beneficial skills, knowledge, and attitudes necessary for a continuous learning and career development, productive citizenship in a democratic society, and a positive attitude toward one's self and society.
Therefore, Fred T. Foard High School agrees to work toward the following objectives:
- To develop a civic awareness compatible with a democratic society.
- To encourage students to develop moral and ethical values for community living.
- To encourage acceptance of people of different races, religions, and cultural backgrounds.
- To develop a feeling of pride in school facilities and a sense of responsibility for the care of such facilities.
- To develop in our students an understanding that work, self-discipline, and respect for authority are needed for achievement and problem solving.
- To encourage students to develop fully their individual capabilities.
- To prepare the student, according to his/her aptitude and interest, to be gainfully employed and/or continue his/her education.
- To develop in students the effective communication skills of reading, writing, speaking, listening, and observing.
- To promote sound habits for the development of emotional, physical, and social health.
- To provide opportunities for the development of individual and group responsibility, initiative, leadership, and dependability in school activities.
- To encourage the wise use of leisure time through the development of wholesome activities and worthwhile skills.
- To enrich life for the individual by developing a personal appreciation for the creative and performing arts.
- To understand man's dependence on utilization and conservation of our natural resources.
- To develop a recognition and appreciation of the multicultural, multi-racial heritage of American society.
