 Ms. Sally Bradshaw, Principal

Ms. Bradshaw first began as principal of Foard in the 2002-2003 school year.  She was the principal at Jacobs Fork Middle School for six years and Ms. Bradshaw previously was assistant principal at Fred T. Foard High School for two years and at Bunker Hill High School for five years.  She began work in the school district in 1983 as a business education teacher at St. Stephens High School, where she remained for four years.  Bradshaw and her staff established Jacobs Fork Middle School as the first Catawba County Schools site designated a School of Excellence by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (two years running, 1999-2000 and 2000-2001).  In addition, while at the school, the school’s cultural arts program has continued to develop and was awarded the Creative Ticket for Distinction Award from the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. this year.  The Jacobs Fork Middle School’s art, music, dance and drama students performed at the Center that spring as part of that award.  Bradshaw also encouraged development of the athletic department, which won several conferences in recent years. 

Ms. Bradshaw has been involved in the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, the National Association for Secondary School Principals and the national and state Middle School Association.  Active in First Baptist Church of Hickory, Bradshaw also is involved in Gamma Phi activities and serves with the Mountain View Recreational Department as a coach. She holds two bachelor’s degrees, in Business Education and in Administration, from Lenoir-Rhyne College and a Leadership in Higher Education master’s degree from Appalachian State.

 Mr. Chad Smith, Assistant Principal

Chad Smith is an assistant principal at Foard.  He graduated from Appalachian State University in 1999 with an undergraduate degree in Special Education. In 2011 he recieved his graduate degree fom Gardner-Webb in School Administration. Before returning to Foard this year he worked at Jacob's Fork Middle School, Fred T. Foard, and West Caldwell High School.

In Mr. Smith's free time he loves to attend Appalachian football games, hang out with his wife Angie Smith, and 7 year old daughter Bailey and close friends, and watch his daughter Bailey compete in various sports and competitions. He most appreciates the enthusiastic school spirit of the student body and staff members at Foard.

 Ms. Courtney Wright, Assistant Principal

Courtney Wright graduated from Appalachian State University with a Criminal Justice degree and Lenoir-Rhyne University with a masters in School Counseling. She is currently completing a license in School Administraion at Gardner-Webb University. Before coming to Foard this year Mrs. Wright was a school counselor and Academy Director at West Caldwell High School and worked at the NC Department of Criminal Justice and Delinquency Prevention Center.

In Mrs. Wright's free time she enjoys spending time with her husband Jared and her daughter Madelyn, doing anything outdoors, and traveling around the world. Her favorite attribute of Foard is the incredibly friendly staff, the wonderful students, and welcoming community.

 Mr. Todd Sudderth, Assistant Prinicpal

Todd Sudderth graduated from Appalachian State University in 1988 with a Bachelors degree in middle grades education and in 2003 recieved his Masters in School Administration from Gardner Webb University. Before coming to Foard Mr. Sudderth taught middle school for 13 years and has been in administration for the past 10 years.

He appreciates the friendly atmosphere at Foard and the sense of pride in the school. In his spare time Mr. Sudderth and his wife Tanya teach the College and Career Sunday School class at Gateway Baptist Church.
