Early Dismissal Policy

 

It is our goal at Fred T. Foard for every student to experience success.  In order for that to occur, it is vitally important that each student attend each class for the entire class period.  Please review below the new Early Dismissal Policy being implemented as of January 27th, 2010.

 

The early dismissal policy at Fred T. Foard is as follows:

 

All students are expected to attend each class for the entire class period.

 

1st early dismissal        Documentation in NCWISE

            2nd early dismissal        Documentation in NCWISE

3rd early dismissal        Verbal Warning and Letter given to student to take to parents

            4th early dismissal        Documentation in NCWISE

5th early dismissal        Lunch Detention - ISS will be assigned if student does not complete lunch detention on assigned day.  Parent will be notified.

6th early dismissal        Documentation in NCWISE and Loss of Driving Privileges for remainder of semester in which offense occurs.

7th early dismissal        Lunch Detention - ISS will be assigned if student does not complete lunch detention on assigned day. Parent will be notified.

8th early dismissal        Documentation in NCWISE

9th early dismissal and any additional:  Lunch Detention - OSS will be assigned if student does not complete lunch detention on assigned day. Parent will be notified.

 

 

Note:  Students who obtain a blue note from the front office prior to 8:00 am for early dismissal do not need to come by the office before leaving unless the time of his/her departure has changed.  All others must come to the front office to sign out. 

 School Day

  • Perfect attendance is based upon school day absences.
  • Students must be present a minimum of two full class period in order to receive credit for the whole day.
  • Our data manager (Kay Weaver), counselors and teachers keep track and provide notification for excessive absences.
  • The school sends written notification for parents of 5 and 8 school day absences.
  • Students must attend at least half a day during each semester exam day in order to be counted present.

 Class Period

  • Exam exemption and course credit are based upon class period attendance.
  • Students may not miss more than 8 days in a course and still receive credit.

 Exam Exemption

  • Must be passing the course.
  • May have no more than one absence with a C, two with a B or three with an A (excused or unexcused)
  • May have no more than two office referrals that result in warnings.
  • May have no ISS, Saturday Detention, or OSS.

 Parent Notes

  • FTF allows 5 total parent notes per semester (this includes for absences, tardies, and early outs).
  • Notes need to include first and last name of student, reason, date, parent/guardian phone, and 1st period teacher name.
  • Examples of excusable notes are: Doctor appointment, hospital, death in family, illness, court, quarantine, religious observances, and education opportunity (form filled out in advanced)
  • There is no limit on notes from the doctor, hospital, or court and these are always coded as excused.
