Media Center Information

Students are encouraged to use the Media Center to access information to complete academic assignments and projects and check out books for reading pleasure.

 Circlulation

Print and equipment resources in the Media Center may be checked out for the following time periods:

       Books                                 2 weeks 
       Magazines                           overnight 
       Reference resources              overnight
       Cameras                              1 week
       Calculators                           semester

Videos and other software are checked out to teachers only.

Students with overdue materials are not allowed to check out additional materials.  Students who have very delinquent materials are subject to loss of various school privileges.

 Computer Use

The Media Center has 24 computers for instructional use.  Internet access and school sponsored e-mail accounts are available provided that students and parents have signed the current Catawba County Acceptable Use Policy form.  In accordance with the Acceptable Use Policy, computers may not be used for online games, personal e-mail, chat rooms, or to access inappropriate sites.  Use of online resources is monitored.

 Other Policies

1.  All students who come to the media center individually must have a valid pass from a teacher.

2.  Food and beverages are not allowed in the media center.

 Additional Services

The following services and items are available in the Media Center for students to purchase:

       Coin-op copier                  $.10 per copy 
       Computer disk or CD          $.90             
       FTF pencils                       $.25

 Student Behavior

Students are expected to work quietly and constructively at all times so that all media center users are able to complete academic assignments and have a quiet place to study.  The media center staff has the authority to maintain order in the media center, and students will be subject to disciplinary action if necessary.
