High School Weight Classes: (2 lb. growth allowance will start Jan. 1)
106,113,120,126,132,138,145,152,160,170,182,195,220,285
(a wrestler can bump up one weight class)

Wrestling is broken into 3 periods with the possibility of going into overtimes.  The first period starts  with both wrestlers starting in the neutral position (standing up).  The objective from here is to take your opponent down, get behind him and gain control (2 pt. takedown).
From here the top wrestler will try to turn his opponent to his back (near fall or back points are scored when the top wrestler turns his opponent's back to a 45 degree angle or less for 3 seconds)  (2 seconds equals 2 near fall points, and 5 seconds equals 3 near fall points (there could be 4  pts. awarded if bottom wrestler starts bleeding or screaming in pain)).

If you pin your opponent at any point in the match; then your team will get 6 team points.

The second period will start with one wrestler having the choice of top, bottom, neutral or defer.  Points can be scored in any position, and is usually easiest to score from the bottom (however, some wrestlers are better in some areas then others, and he may choose a different position).  If their is no pin or "tech. fall"; then the match goes to the third period.

The third period starts with the other wrester having choice of top, bottom, or neutral.

At the end of a match, if you win by 15 or more points; then you team receives 5 team points (tech fall).  If you win by 8-14 points;  then your team will  receive 4 team points for a major.  If you win by 1-7 points; then your team will receive 3 team points.

If the score is tied at the end of regulation; then you go to the standing position for sudden death.  The first wrestler to get a takedown wins a decision (3 team pts.).  However, you can take your opponent straight to his back and get a pin (6 team points).  If no takedown is wins it; then you go to a double ride out period where you will be in the top position for 30 seconds, and then the bottom position for 30 seconds.
If the score is tied after that; then one more 30 second sudden death ride out period takes place.  If you choose bottom and score; then you win.  If you choose top, and don't let your opponent score; then you win.  Remember, a pin will end it at any time.
