Eye of the Tiger Wrestling Club

Eye of the Tiger Wrestling Club

"You don't deserve anything, the only thing you deserve is what you earn."- Tom Brands, Iowa Wrestling

The "Eye of the Tiger Wrestling Club" is open to anyone in our wrestling program (Tiger Youth League, JFMS, or FTF).  Workouts are optional and are held in the Fall and Spring every Monday and Thursday from 3:15-4:30 in the Foard H.S. wrestling room.   Have your ride here to pick you up on time.  The club workouts are set up a little different then a typical in-season practice.  The club workouts will be about 30 minutes of teaching and drilling followed by about 45 minutes of live wrestling.  These off-season workouts aren't as intense as an in-season practice, however, they are very important to your development as a wrestler and athlete.   If you choose to not to participate, you will be choosing to let everyone else pass you as an wrestler and athlete.

If you need to sign up for a USA Wrestling card or look at the up coming events; then you may do so at this site: http://www.ncwrestling.org/

*You must fill out the waiver below to wrestle in our Eye of the Tiger Wrestling Club.  Please print this off and return it to Coach Carey before practicing.

I understand that wrestling is a dangerous sport, and I am working out on my own free will, and don't hold Catawba County Schools, Fred T. Foard High School, the Foard H.S. and Eye of the Tiger Wrestling coaches (Carey, Elmore, Shook, Blanton, etc.) liable in any way.  This is your responsibility to fill this form out before coming to practice.

10 BENEFITS OF USA MEMBERSHIP
USA Memberships are $35. There are some coaches in North Carolina that immediately dismiss USA as an option because it "costs too much". Maybe the question really is what is the VALUE of having a membership of any kind? With that question in mind, consider these 10 benefits of getting you/your wrestler(s) their USA Memberships:

1) Access to every USA Event and
NCAWA event held in North Carolina. This includes four state events and over 40 local events! It also includes regional and national events. Entry fees at NCUSA/NCAWA events are among the most economical in the sport!

2) Discounted or free admission to many clinics and camps and tournaments throughout the year. In the coming month alone your USA membership entitles you to a $5 discount at wrestling clinics.

3) Access to our NEW NETWORK of REGIONAL TRAINING CENTERS. What value would you put on being able to be trained monthly by our best college and club coaches, with other elite wrestlers from across NC, in a collegiate training environment?

4)Subscription to USA Wrestler magazine. Comes 6 times per year with great articles on wrestling at all levels. This magazine informs and inspires wrestlers throughout the entire year. How much do you currently pay for subscriptions to other wrestling publications?

5) A Shot at the NC TRIPLE CROWN. NEW for 2010-2011 will be the NC TRIPLE CROWN AWARD. Wrestlers who win the State Championships in Folkstyle, Freestyle, and Greco-Roman will be recognized as Triple Crown Award Winners. This will be one of the PREMIER recognitions a wrestler can earn in North Carolina! (more info on this program will be up soon on the NCUSA website)

6) The very best in liability insurance for coaches, clubs, and events, as well as secondary medical insurance coverage for athletes. This coverage applies to ANY wrestling event you participate in, including all events, club practices, and camps that you attend throughout the year.

7) Access to USA WRESTLING NATION. This site has a HUGE library of training videos and highlights that are outstanding for use in training both athletes and coaches. Access is INCLUDED with your membership. Visit
www.usawrestlingnation.org to check it out. Access to similar video resources can cost from $30-200 alone! How much did you pay for your last technique video??

8 )The NC TOP 50 Series. For youth wrestlers, this is an exciting series of events that recognizes the success of the up and coming youth wrestlers in our state.

9)Access to National Team Trips and a chance to represent NC in National Events. This includes "FARGO", Schoolboy, Cadet, and Junior National Duals, and East Coast Duals. These trips offer wrestlers to chance to compete against the highest caliber of national competition.

10) Support of our USA National Team and Olympic Hopefuls. A portion of your membership support the programs that allow NC Wrestlers like Dremel Byers, Jermain Hodge, Raymond Jordan, and Sara McMann to train and represent North Carolina the United States of America throughout the world in International competition!

Event access, Regional Training Centers, Magazine subscriptions, Video Libraries, Insurance, Team NC Trips, Special Awards, and support of our very best wrestlers who are pursuing their dream of representing our state and nation in World and Olympic Championships! All that for $35??? ARE YOU SERIOUS!

So as you think about the season ahead and where you can get the most bang for your wrestling buck, I hope you will take a strong look at programs and services offered through
NCUSA membership. And I hope you will conclude that a NCUSA membership is one of the BEST VALUES AROUND!!
