Team Expectations and Policies

1.      Golden Rule – Treat others the way you want to be treated

2.      Be on time to all practices, meetings, meets, etc…

3.      Don’t miss practice (see Attendance Policy)

4.      Do your best

Attendance Policies for practice:

1.  To be EXCUSED from practice, there must be a legitimate reason.  Sick from school, after school remediation or make-up test are examples of legitimate reasons.  If you are going to be late due to an educational reason, TELL A COACH!  When you finally arrive to practice, make sure you have a signed note from the teacher you were with.  Don’t tell a friend to tell a coach.  If you are leaving school because you are sick, TELL A COACH.  Failure to tell a coach means you are late/absent unexcused.

2.  Absence policy:  Following the second UNEXCUSED absence, you will not be allowed to participate in the next meet.  Being absent UNEXCUSED a third time will result in your dismissal from the team.

3.  Tardy policy:  Following the 4th UNEXCUSED tardy, you will not be allowed to participate in the next meet.  Being late UNEXCUSED a fifth time will result in your dismissal from the team.

Lettering:

1.      Sprinters/Jumpers – 20 points throughout the season

2.      Throwers – 10 points

3.      Distance – 15 points

·        All rules will apply. Ultimately, the awarding of a letter is at the discretion of the coaches.

Practice Schedule:

We will practice everyday Monday – Thursday from 3:15 to 4:45.  Even if it is raining outside, still plan on practicing.  We may run indoors, lift, etc… Unless an announcement is made that cancels practice, make sure you are ready for the day’s activities.  NO EXCUSES!

Meets:

On meet days, everyone is expected to ride the bus to the meet.  Leaving the meet, you may return on the bus or with a parent.  If you do not return to school on the bus, you must be signed out by an adult (parent/guardian/friend's parent).
