HICKORY - A 19-year-old man was killed in a motorcycle accident in Mountain View.

Daniel Andrew Carroll, of Royal Heights Circle in Hickory, lost control of his 2002 Honda about 6 p.m. Tuesday and crashed on Mountain Grove Church Road, North Carolina State Highway Patrol officials said.

Carroll was taken to Frye Regional Medical Center, where he later died.

The Highway Patrol said speed was a factor. Investigators estimated Carroll’s speed at about 75 mph. The speed limit along that stretch of road is 45 mph.

After a sharp curve, Carroll’s bike overturned and skidded across the center line to the left side of the road. Carroll was thrown from the vehicle to the right side of the road, the Highway Patrol said."
