Welcome to Third Grade. This will be an important academic year for your child. Grades will take a new form and standardized testing will begin. Students will begin to receive a numerical grade for each course. A progress report will go home midway through each nine weeks to help you monitor your child's progress. There will also be many standardized tests throughout the year, but two of the major tests will be the Reading and Math EOG's at the end of the year. These grades and scores will become a part of your child's permanent record. For a complete curriculum overview, you may visit:

There are many curriculum based field trips tentatively scheduled during the Third Grade year. These field trips may include a trip to the Greene Room, the Hickory Science Center, Lenoir-Rhyne University, and Old Salem.
If you would like to volunteer in your child's classroom or within our school, please contact our office or your child's teacher for more information.
