Welcome to Second Grade. Your child's fundamental skills will continue to develop this year. One new feature for your child will include changing classes for Reading. Students may also become more involved in our Accelerated Reader program. This program allows students to earn points for successful completion of a test after reading an AR book. These points may then be used at our AR store for some wonderful prizes. For a complete curriculum overview, you may visit:

There are many curriculum based field trips tentatively scheduled during the Second Grade year. These field trips may include a trip to the Hickory Fire/Police Station, the Hickory Community Theater, the Hickory Science Center, and the zoo.
