Catawba County Inclement Weather Information:
The primary concern of the superintendent in making a decision regarding the closing or delayed start of school is the safety and welfare of all students and employees. A decision to close schools or to consider a delayed opening will be made by 5:30 a.m. that morning. Announcements will be made in late evening prior to the relative day of school or early that morning. For information on school closings or delayed starts due to inclement weather, parents should watch local television or listen to local radio stations.
Announcements will be posted on the home page of our web site at www.catawbaschools.net and will be available by Twitter at twitter.com/catawabaschools and on the Facebook fan page of Catawba County Schools. School closings will also be announced through the SchoolMessenger Notification System. Because of supervision problems for working parents, every effort is made not to delay openings. Parents are asked not to call the weather bureau, radio/television stations, newspapers, school officials/offices or the sheriff’s department. If there is no announcement, school will begin as regularly scheduled.

Congratulations Mrs. Stapleton! She has been selected as the 2014-2015 Exceptional Childrens Teacher of Excellence for Catawba County Schools.  She will be recognized at the state CEC conference in November.  Thanks Mrs. Stapleton for all that you do to help support our school community!

Common Core State Standards&
Essential Standards

On June 2, 2010, North Carolina adopted the Common Core State Standards in K-12 Mathematics and K-12 English Language Arts released by the National Governors Association Center for Best Practices and the Council of Chief State School Officers. With the adoption of these state-led education standards, North Carolina is in the first group of states to embrace clear and consistent goals for learning to prepare children for success in college and work. The full Common Core standards can be viewed at www.corestandards.org
