Each Summer is a busy time for some cadets in Bunker Hill's Air Force JROTC program. Twelve cadets attended Cadet Officer Leadership School (COLS) at Fayetteville State University in 2009.
During this week-long camp, cadets from 32 North Carolina high schools attend academic classes, perform military drill, participate in physical fitness and sports events, and learn how to deal with numerous leadership problems.
After completing COLS, these cadets will take on leadership roles in the Bunker Hill corps of cadets. They will be responsible for planning, leading, and participating in a lot of activities. During the year, the corps participates in at least three competitive drill meets, two parades, numerous color guard presentations at special events, competitive corps athletic events, adopt-a-highway cleanups, a formal military ball, to mention a few.

To be eligible for these COLS, cadets must be returning to the AFJROTC program the following school year, they must pass the physical fitness test, be passing all their academic courses, and can not have been identified as a discipline problem in any school activity or class.
Cadets who successfully complete COLS receive 1/2 academic course credit.
