Brian Benton, Assistant Principal

Mr. Benton has been working in the public schools for 23 years.  He spent the first 12 years of his career as a high school band director and has been in administration for the past 11 years.  He has worked at all levels of school administration from elementary, middle and high school.  He received his bachelor of music degree from Mars Hill College in 1985.  He was awarded a Masters of Education from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in 1996.  In addition, he is also a graduate of the Principal's Executive Program at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Mr. Benton and his wife Julie, of 21 years, have three children who are in the 12th, 10th and 8th grades in the Catawba County School System.  He enjoys spending time with his children as they participate in sports and band activities.  He is currently serving as team manager for his daughters soccer team.  Mr. Benton and his family also attend Highland Baptist Church in Hickory where he serves as Sunday School Director. 

Mr. Benton is excited to be in the Balls Creek area and is looking forward to meeting the students and parents that make up this wonderful school.
