Turkey Trot Brings Gobblin' Good Food to Families in Need
Joe Weaver, PE Teacher, and Assistant Jewel Deal have been hard at work again
sorting food collected during the Annual Thanksgiving Turkey Trot Food Drive at Balls Creek.
Over the past 4 years, our students have contributed over 28,000 canned goods to local food pantries and the Backpacks for Education program.
Thank you to our students and their families for your generous donations!

Three Cheers for Balls Creek!
Balls Creek Elementary School has earned designation as a
2013-14 Exemplar School in the North Carolina Positive
Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) annual State Recognition Program.

Our school met all the requirements for this recognition by demonstrating
results achieved through working together, using school data to implement
research-based practices, and developing supportive systems to teach all
students new behaviors.

This year's PBIS Recognition Celebration was held on November 4th as part
of the 64th Conference on Exceptional Children at the Koury Convention Center in Greensboro.
Attending on behalf of our school to receive our Exemplar Banner
were Rita Lail, principal, and Jan Tripp, counselor.

It's Time to Turn In Those Box Tops!
Thanks to your support, our first "Box Top Contest" was a huge success
and now we're gearing up for another round!

Please remember that our school earns $0.10 for each Box Top...
Don't toss 'em, clip 'em!

Our second contest will run through December 12th and the winning class will
earn extra recess and a popsicle party.

We Are Learning Through the Decades!
This year, Balls Creek students will be celebrating their learning
by 'dressing for the decade' throughout the year.

It all started when students celebrated the '50th Day of School' on
November 6th by dressing in clothes from the 1950's and participating in a
50's style sock-hop in the gym.

Upcoming celebrations will include:

November 21 - The 60th Day of School
Break out the tie-dye, bell bottoms and paisley prints!

December 10 - The 70th Day of School
It's the Disco decade!  Let's see your best retro style.

January 7 - The 80th Day of School
Leg warmers, jelly bracelets and wind breakers are in style!
This celebration will include another dance party with DJ Aiello.

~Congratulations to Our First Quarter Terrific Kids~
