Jazz Band is a specialty group that meets daily.  Its members are chosen from the regular band classes.  Because this group only meets for 25 minutes each day, it is required that all performers have previous experience on their instrument.  Jazz Band is designed to introduce jazz literature and jazz concepts to young musicians who are interested in expanding their musical knowledge.  Topics such as style, technique, soloing, improvisation, and ensemble sound are the main focus of the class.  Arndt's Jazz Band performs 3-4 concerts per year and competes in the annual state jazz festival.
