Science Comes to Startown

The Startown Preschool Program has been a beneficiary of a grant recently awarded to the Catawba Science Center. The grant allows the Center to come to area preschool programs eight times during the 2011-2012 school year. 757

Startown has enjoyed visits from Allison Hilton, lead preschool educator with Center.  During her visits, Mrs. Hilton shares big books and songs with the children and then offers them theme-related puzzles, games, and educational toys to explore.

To date, the pre-schoolers have learned about space, spiders and insects, as well as gears and simple machines.  Startown is looking forward to Mrs. Hilton’s next visit, as the children will be introduced to the world of dinosaurs.
