1. Have a Dr. Seuss Character Contest! Have students draw a picture of their own Dr. Seuss character, name the character, and write a short poem or rhyme describing the character.
2. Startown has a Used Book Sale for 2 days. Donated children's books and movies are sold for 10 cents, 25 cents, 50 cents, or $1.00. Students also dress up as book characters on March 2nd.

In Search of Dr. Seuss (DVD), Turner Home Entertainment, 2003, is an excellent video on the life of Dr. Seuss, his creative process, and the inspirations for his stories. The movie has several of his stories performed musically, with great costumes and in different styles.
